The Revenge of Big Blue
Coming back from the airport earlier this week, I took this great picture of a van that looked JUST LIKE big blue. My cell phone camera messed up though and even though the tiny little thumbnail is correct, the full picture is the one I had deleted. Ugh. Maybe I'll find it again in Denver and can post its picture here.

Poor Uncle Billy Fun Run

The history:
"Poor Uncle Billy" came to be somewhere in the late 1980s. Uncle Billy was in town for his birthday. Christy and Teri, then probably 4 years old, were commissioned to pick out his birthday cake. They went to the grocery store and promptly picked a cake with blue ballerinas. They instructed the bakery employee to inscribe the cake, "Happy Birthday Uncle Billy." When opened at the celebration, the cake read: "Happy Birthday, Poor Uncle Billy."
The "Poor Uncle Billy Fun Run" memorializes this grand event.
This year's line up:
Half marathon: Uncle Billy, Christy, Teri, Jonathan, Goodie
5K: Mom, Bonnie, Jennifer, the Nix family
Chauffeur/Spectators: Dad, Mama (via broadcast)
Accommodations: Brashares family bungalow
Note: Jonathan has pre-reserved the space underneath the dining room table for 2010. ;)

Memories
"It is better for civilization to be going down the drain than to be coming up it."Stumbled across this quote today. It made me think of our RV trip. Good times... good times...

Thunder Snow!
Denver post headline this evening - "Thunder, snow for the weekend." Brings back memories of snow-nados.
We've had crazy heavy fog today and chilly temperatures (looks like a Houston winter outside). I actually saw a few intermittent flakes this afternoon (I'm still in denial that October is here). As a result, the sprinkler system is now off and drained for the season. The house is almost into heater territory - I hit my limit when it drops into the 50s (inside that is). Goodie's been complaining about the house being too cold. I hope he's not getting sick ;)!
