I left a comment about this on Teri's post below... She was recalling fun childhood memories. Last weekend, on our trip to
OKC to pick up the Jeep, we went through
Grainfield, Kansas. It brought back memories of that sweltering July 4
th when Big Blue broke down (we're going to have to find a picture of Big Blue to post so that others can really appreciate it) in the middle of nowhere Kansas. Thankfully, because it's a farming area and Big Blue was a one ton "truck" (it was a 12 passenger
GMC Rally "church" van), they had the part. It was 5pm on a holiday when we showed up and they stayed to fix our van (which was a good thing - because
Grainfield doesn't have a hotel and there's not a hotel or place to stay for at least 50 miles). Meanwhile, we camped out on a picnic blanket under the one tree in Kansas in 100 degree heat and
sweated our brains out. Quite the experience! We will all forever remember Kansas for it.
Well, I'm happy to report that
Grainfield hasn't changed a bit. Here's a picture or two for old times sake.
This way to Grainfield...
This gas station brings back memories...
