The Nelson Game Goes Global

That's right. The infamous Nelson game is going global. After learning the game from Captain Awesome and having a hilarious time in Norman, we have taken it upon ourselves to proliferate The Nelson Game to friends and neighbors. I mean for real, any game that involves sketches of Britney lighting her cell phone on fire, couches on toilets, and Ninja Turtles fighting over pizza gets my vote.

So, we had a New Year's shindig at our house and welcomed several neighbors and friends. Now, since the majority of the people we know in Colorado happen to be from South Africa, there was an international bent to our par-tay. New Year's was awesome. We treated everyone to some good Texas BBQ; beef brisket (with Rudy's Rub and Sause), beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, Texas Toast, Shiner Bock, and Peach Cobbler with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream among other things. After some good eatin', we played a little Apples to Apples (ask us for tips to improve the riotousness of that game) and then we pulled out the big guns. That's right. The Nelson Game. After giving the deserved credit to Captain Awesome* we gave everyone the 411 and proceeded to play. Now, I must admit that there were some breakdowns in the passing and communication which led to a few hiccups in our game, but it was all good. Well, the game was a hit and despite all of one person's phrases having something to do with champagne, aka "bubbly," it was good clean fun; especially when one particular South African attempted to draw a loofah and another tried to interpret the sketch. Let's just say it went downhill from there. Anyway, at this point we are convinced that The Nelson Game will be making its debut in South Africa in the near future, if not already. This is largely because one South African couple in attendance who particularly enjoyed the game (they were on the latter end of that loofah fiasco) was only here for a few weeks visiting and are now back in Cape Town. We're pretty confident somewhere in Cape Town people are drawing Britney lighting her cell phone on fire as I type. We do know for a fact that only a few short days ago The Nelson Game was unveiled to alleviate boredom among staff at the Adam's Mark Denver. So, Captain Awesome, pat yourself on the back, and tell Nelson, wherever he is, that he has started something that is beginning to take the world by storm. I mean, it could even outpace sliced bread as the coolest thing since, you never know.

*The buck must stop with some dude named Nelson, but we have Captain Awesome to thank for the introduction
